Remembrance Day at Churchill

Each year at Churchill Alternative, we mark Remembrance Day with a school sharing.
Here is another summary of of a Remembrance Day gathering, this one shared by Sofie Henschel (Gr. 6) in 2020:
This year for Remembrance Day, each Churchill class honoured Canada’s veterans in their own way. Students made lanterns, wreaths, poppies and paper cranes. During a zoom call, each class did a presentation.
Stacey’s grade 2/3 class held out their hands and took pictures of them. Next, they glued tissue paper poppies that they had had made, onto the photo. Stacey then took the pictures and arranged them in a video.
Ray’s grade 6 class made paper poppies. Then, Ray collected videos of the students delivering a speech that he had prepared. Next, Ray displayed the videos in a slide.
Although the moment was melancholy, the art exhibited was impressive to say the least, and the amount of effort the students and teachers must have put in was remarkable.
