Churchill news from March 2024
Every month, our school council (CASC) meets to discuss events, fundraising, and other school-related topics. As part of the meeting, our teacher representative provides an update on some of the events that occur in the school. In addition, our principal sends out a weekly email which often includes a bit of information about what's happening around the school. While this post does not capture every event that happened this month, it does provide some highlights as shared by our staff.
Note: There isn't quite as much info this month as we had march break and there was no council meeting which meant there wasn't a staff report.
The Yetis have been taking on some additional leadership roles over the past several weeks. They worked alongside staff to present a set of guidelines for recess and nutrition break to all of the classes. They have also been leading fun and engaging games in the yard during recess. Thank you, Yetis!
Intramural sports continue with 3 on 3 basketball. Students are having a great time while preparing for an alternative school tournament in May.
The Cacti visited parliament. They were especially excited for tours of the Senate & the House of Commons. While visiting the House, they were treated to a special “on the floor” tour!
The Family Glow Dance was such a great event! A huge shout out to the planning committee for making this happen. Congratulations to Ryland who was Principal for the day on Monday as his name was pulled from the draw at the dance.
The spirit days were so much fun and culminated in an INCREDIBLE beach day today. Thank you to Lyne for putting this together and to all parents who came to help out.
It was great to welcome staff and students back this week after the Spring break. From Leprechauns to fun and engaging math, science and time with class buddies, it was a wonderful week all around!
Dancing into the long weekend! What a great way to end another amazing week.
On Wednesday our Kinder Bumblebees and Wolves had an amazing time at Vanier Museopark, the only Francophone museum in Ottawa! Thank you to the many parent volunteers who joined the kinder team.
Here is what some of our Churchill staff, students and families had to say this month!
