Fall Creatures

Here's a story about how Alena's Grade 2 class class explored the fall season in a range of ways.....

 The students: 

• Listened to to Vivaldi 4 Seasons and learned about the composer (Music)

• Learned about the seasons and plants (Science)

• Collected different leaves and plants and then sorted and graphed the leaves by shapes, colours, and size (Math) 

• Created "wildwood creatures" using chalk pastels as a base (while learning the principles of portrait and colours) and then finished their creations with nature materials (Art)

• Learned about narrative writing with a focus on dialogue writing (Language Arts)

• Brought all of their learning together by writing a short drama skit and then acting out the short skit with a partner (Drama)

Students learned skills across the curriculum, got outside to collect their nature materials, and built the confidence to speak in front of an audience. A lot of creative fun was had!
