This week in PE...
All grade levels had a parachute unit! Parachute is my absolute favorite activity to teach in PE and I love giving all the kiddos core memories that we all remember from our PE classes growing up.Β
On Monday & Tuesday all grades worked on parachute safety, holding the parachute correctly, teamwork, and a variety of parachute skills such as launching balls, making igloos, making and climbing a jello mountain.Β
On Wednesday & Thursday we played parachute games. Our favorite parachute game is sharks and lifeguards. Students crawl under the parachute and have to pull students under the parachute to eat them like a shark attack. Outside of the parachute there are lifeguards and when a swimmer feels a shark pull on their ankles they have to yell or help from the lifeguard to be saved.Β

This week in PE...
On Monday & Tuesday all classes played a fan favorite game called Capture the Chicken. Capture the Chicken is the same as Capture the Flag BUT we use rubber chickens instead of flags because rubber chickens are COOL! The goal of this game is to defend your chickens from being taken while trying to capture all 8 chickens total onto your side.Β
Β On Wednesday & Thursday all classes participated in a small group workout at different fitness stations.Β

This week in PE...
2nd-5th grade did a practice pacer test! Later this year we have to complete State Fitnessgram testing in PE for grades 3rdp5th grade. These are state required fitness tests. We like to give opportunities for practicing the tests before students have to complete them for a real score.Β
K-1st grade practiced locomotor movements, played toilet tag, and then played one of our new favorite games called "Get Outta My House!" This is a fun group rock paper scissors game. On Thursday K-1st played Castleball!Β
