September 9th- 12th:
This week in PE...
As we get closer to fall break and the weather is getting to be absolutely beautiful, we spent time outside this week playing a game called Treasure Grab! The point of this game is to get a piece of treasure and bring it back to your team without getting tagged by a treasure guard (holding pool noodles). Whichever team has the most treasures at the end of the round wins!
September 16th- 19th:
This week in PE....
On Monday & Tuesday Kinder, First, and Second grade got to play a relay race called pass the ball relay. For this race each team was sitting in a line and the last person in line started with a ball and passed it forward to each person. Once it gets to the first person in line, that person stands up with the ball and runs to the end of the line and repeat until your team gets across the gym!
For Wednesday and Thursday...Kinder continued to work on relay races and tag games. First & Second Grade got to play Castle Ball on more time before fall break!
On Monday & Tuesday grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th we played a cooperative game called cross the river. Students had to start behind one part of the gym on land. We told them a big fire was burning and quickly spreading towards them so they would have to cross the river BUT the river water was very toxic and hurts you if you touch it. We gave poly spot dots to each group and these were rocks. The rules were that they could not throw or slide the rocks because they are WAY too heavy. They must have all rocks with them as the cross the river and pick them up as the go AND we only gave one rock per person on each team. If anyone from your team touches the toxic river water everyone must go back to the start.
This game has different levels. Level 1 they had to cross the river halfway to the middle island. Level 2 they had to get to the island and then cross the entire river to the side of the gym. Level 3 we took away one more rock from each team! It was super fun to see the creative ways students worked together to cross the river!
On Wednesday & Thursday 3rd-5th got to play our favorite game Castle Ball once more before fall break!
