This week in PE....
3rd-5th grade continued with Fitnessgram Testing. We finished our set of Flexibility tests by completing the trunk lift test. Then we learned about Muscular Endurance and practiced the Push Up test.Β
K-2nd played some fitness related games this week. On Monday and Tuesday they played a Lollipop paddle relay race where each student had to use a lollipop paddle to balance either a bean bag OR yarn ball and bring it back to their team.Β
On Wednesday & Thursday K-2 played a game called Fitness UNO. The student had to run to a bucket, take one UNO card, look at the color and number. Then they had to go to the colored cone that matched the UNO card. On the cone, there was a poster with the exercise they have to complete and whatever number was on the UNO card would be the amount of repetitions the student had to do of that exercise. For example if I got a yellow card with a 7 I would run to they yellow cone and do 7 squats.Β

3rd-5th grade continued Fitnessgram testing. We did the Pacer test, Curl Up test, and some classes got to start the Push Up test! Next week we will continue with our tests.Β
On Monday and Tuesday K-2nd got to play a game Coach Eren created called Igloo Drop. This was a relay style game where students had to carry an object between their knees and get across the gym to drop it in a bucket. After dropping the item in a bucket, they got to take one hula hoop. To win this game your team needs 6 hula hoops and to build a hula hoop castle!Β
On Wednesday and Thursday K-2nd got to play one of our favorite tag games called Toilet Tag. If you get tagged by a pool noodle you must freeze and turn into a toilet. To get back into the game someone else has to come and "flush" your toilet aka push your arm down and say WHOOOSH!!!
After Toilet Tag, we played a team game called Dragon Tails. Students had one scarf and it must be tucked into a pocket or the waistband of your pants. The goal is to run to other team's zones and try and grab a dragon tail from another color team. If your dragon tail gets taken you lose the power to travel to other team's zones and must stay in your team's zone.Β

We had a short week due to President's Day! On top of the short week it was COLD COLD COLD outside! Since we did not have the gym this week we had to stay inside our PE classrooms. On Tuesday it was warm enough for our kiddos to go outside and play but on Wednesday and Thursday we stayed fully inside.Β
K-2nd did adventure run/fitness videos and watched more of Everyone's Hero.Β
3rd-5th Grade continued working on Fitnessgram Testing. Some students finished their pushup test while others finished our Height & Weight portion of Fitnessgram. Height & Weight is done completely in private with Coach Scimeca. No other student's are able to see anyone else's height/weight.Β

On Monday and Tuesday all grade levels K-5th got outside stations time. Students could pick what station they wanted to play out. The stations we offered were soccer, jump rope, and hula hooping. Students can switch stations whenever they decide.Β
On Wednesday and Thursday 2nd-5th grade got to play a game called Yoshi. The goal of Yoshi is to get to the other team's mat without getting tagged. Whoever can get the most players to the other team's mat will win the game. When the teacher calls "YOSHI!" everyone must run to the opposite side mat and the first team to have everyone on the mats win the round and get a point!Β
3rd-5th continued Fitnessgram Testing. I finished Height & Weight with all 3-5th graders! WOOOOO!!!
Kindergarten got to play Red Light, Green Light! If the student got caught moving on red light, they had to do 5 jumping jacks.Β
