April 28th-May 1st: 🎉
This week in PE...
I cannot believe we are in the LAST MONTH of the school year! This has been the fastest year of my teaching career so far! I am so excited because this week and next week we are back in the gym for the last time this school year. I really wanted to make it fun for the kiddos and give them the opportunities to play our favorite PE games from the year and to just have fun! I am especially sentimental for my fifth graders that will be leaving me in 4 weeks ðŸ˜
On Monday and Tuesday, all grade levels K-5th played a game called treasure grab. We played this game at the beginning of the year. The goal is to sneak by treasure guards to steal a piece of treasure without getting tagged! Treasure guards hold pool noodles. If you get tagged, your turn is over. If you can get a treasure back to your team without getting tagged, you keep it! The team with the most points wins!
Every round I tell the students that there is a secret mystery treasure in our pile of treasure. I tell them that the mystery treasure is worth 2,5,10,20,50,100, etc. points. I DO NOT tell them what the mystery treasure is until the end of the round. This keeps each round exciting and elevates the game with some addition math skills! Once a mystery treasure is unlocked, the point amount for that treasure stays the same. So if rubber duckies are worth 5 points, they will ALWAYS be worth 5 points!
On Wednesday & Thursday, all classes K-5th played our favorite castleball! The goal is to knock down the other team's castles by throwing foam balls! Â

This week in PE...
It was our last week using the gym for the rest of the school year for PE! Secondary will have their turn in the gym the next two weeks so we will be back outside on the field.Â
On Monday & Tuesday, K-2nd played Pin Knock Down. This is where each team has 5 bowling pins to protect while also trying to throw and knock down the other team's bowling pins.Â
3rd-5th played a new game called "Protect Your Pin." We had 20 different teams of students that each had a hula hoop, bowling pin, and one ball. It is everyone vs. everyone meaning that you are trying to knock down everyone's pin by throwing from your spot and be the LAST ONE STANDING! If your pin falls, you are out of the game.Â
On Wednesday & Thursday, all grade levels 1st-5th played Castleball! This is our last castle ball of the year and it is one of the kiddos favorite games. APEX even joined in on our PE classes to play with some of the kiddos and it was so much fun!
Kindergarten played Fire & Ice Tag (blue pool noodle = noodle of ice, red noodle = noodle of fire). The ice noodle freezes people, the noodle of fire unfreezes people. We played a few rounds and picked new taggers each round! Afterwards, the kiddos played musical hoops. We would have them move around the gym doing the designated locomotor movement when the music was on. When the music stops, they must find a hoop in under 5 seconds. If a student does not make it into a hoop in 5 seconds they must do 5 reps of an exercise!Â

This week in PE...
The last two weeks in PE we have been outside on the field. All grade levels were rewarded free choice for the end of the year! They could choose to play soccer, volleyball, jump rope, throwing scoops, or play with their friends!Â
This year has gone by SO fast and I hope everyone has a great summer! The blog will start up again next school year!!!
