FFFRRRIIIDDDAAAYYY!!!!!! (Sorry for yelling, but I am very excited.)

To begin, students read for fifteen minutes.

Next, we continued looking at students' embarrassing simple sentence paragraphs. While this exercise may seem silly since there will never be a time when you are asked to write a paragraph or anything else in all simple sentences, it is a thinking exercise that increases your awareness of clauses as well as your mental dexterity.

Following this, students completed some collaborative group work. They were placed in groups of three and asked to take out their answers to the Analyze the Text questions to The Fall of the House of Usher on page 32.

  • First, the group created a shared Google Doc.

  • Next, starting with question 1-A, each group member read his/her answer. Once each person shared her/his response, the group discussed their answers and formed the best possible response, and the first person to share typed it onto the group document.

  • Then they moved to question 1-B and repeated the process. The only difference here is that the person to the left of the original "typist" was in control of typing onto the shared document. Etc. This way, each person in the group had equal responsibility.

Some classes had enough time to have a Circle Session at the end, and some did not.

Have a great weekend, friends, and I will see you next Tuesday!
