Happy Friday, amigas and amigos. Are you ready for the weekend? Do you have big plans? Well good. I hope they are every bit as fun as you expect.

We started today with some sustained silent reading.

We ended the day with more creative writing. This is the last day that students will have to work on their stories in class. I went around the room and checked to see how much work people had completed in the first two days. To earn maximum credit, students should already have an outline and a full page of fiction or two full pages if they opted out of writing an outline. I will be doing these checks once more on Monday, and students should have an outline and two pages of fiction or three pages if there is no outline. The final draft is due on 11/01/22.

TIPS FOR FICTION:

• Show don't tell

• Write scenes not summaries

• Write about what you know

• Create something real

• Incorporate the elements of your genre
