Classroom Sukkot

Grade/Class: JK

Context: Students learn about Sukkot and the traditions of the holiday.

Learning: In a delightful activity, our JK (Junior Kindergarten) students engaged in the construction of their own Sukkot using materials found within their classroom. Divided into four groups, the students collaborated to brainstorm and decide on the materials they would utilize for the walls and the schach of their Sukkot. Through this interactive lesson, JK students not only developed a connection to the customs and traditions of Sukkot but also honed their problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative abilities. They experienced the joy of actively participating in the observance of a Jewish holiday while creating a tangible representation of a Sukkah using materials from their own environment.
