In the final unit of writing we will be creating an adventure in an historical setting. I have included an opening to the story 'The Golden Phoenix,' your child is to continue the story by creating an adventure for the characters Tom and Jerry.

When reading through the story, they can use the checklists to 'Text-mark' (highlight) how the beginning of the story has already included some of the Narrative Features.

In this document you will find:

  • An example of an adventure story, 'Dominika's Daring Discovery.'
  • The beginning of the story 'The Golden Phoenix,' at the end are a set of questions your child can use to prompt their ideas for continuing the story.
  • Narrative Checklist.
  • Genre Checklist for Adventure Stories.
