Library Support Feedback Seminars - The Library are running a number of seminars to help students interpret and make use of assessment feedback. Students meet in small groups on campus or online with a Skills Adviser, to give and receive feedback on an extract of their writing or a presentation. Please use this link to find out more and book onto an event.
Absence reporting - Please ensure you complete the absence reporting form if you are expecting to be absent or are unable to attend at short notice. There is a link on both your Blackboard course organisational sites and module blackboard sites. Please do not email the Course Leader or Year Lead. You can arrange to swap with another student in another group but cannot join another group without this arrangement. This is due to room capacity and safety guidance and we are trying to ensure the same guidance is consistent across all modules and years. If you are an Elite sport athlete you are able to swap sessions. Please discuss with the module leader if you are not sure.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event - One of our local NHS providers is running a number of online training events. The first is about Remote rehabilitation. Please click here to see more: Information flyer Click on this link to book: https://re-url.uk/WEL7

The team are running new regular placement drop in sessions at Robert Winston Building (RWB). Please see the twitter page for details of when the Physio sessions are. https://twitter.com/SHU_HWLS_Plcmnt
Course Leader drop-in sessions - As a result of student feedback and group rep discussions I would like to offer students at all levels the opportunity to come and speak to me directly if you have things you would like to discuss. The drop-in sessions will be monthly and can be booked here: Click here to book a CL drop in slot . The first one is Monday 1st November 2021 10-11am. We have also added a course padlet for all students to be able to contribute their comments/suggestions/feedback on your course organisational sites and a 'You said we did' document so you can see more clearly how your feedback is used to improve and shape the course. The padlets will be monitored weekly and 'You said We did' feed into Group rep meetings. You can find these in the Student voice section on your Blackboard course organisation site.
Year Lead cover
Claire is off 26-28th October so please feedback any issues via your class reps, who will be able to contact Sue Dale via Microsoft teams chat.
Survey
Thank you to those of you who completed the induction survey. I can see that most of you found the pre course website useful which is good to hear. There are still some areas we could do better on, so I will discuss these with your class reps when we meet in November with a view to developing it for next year. Most of you felt well prepared following induction and have made some excellent suggestions for areas to improve- thank you.
People highlighted some areas they are struggling with still such as Backboard. Now that you have level 5 and 6 mentors connected to your academic advisor groups, I would like you to use them for support and advice where possible as I am sure they will know the answer. I will unpick the other issues with your class reps and make a plan to help where we can. I asked you if you knew who your year lead was (Me!), your academic advisor, class reps and how to contact them. Worryingly, some of you have said this is an issue. If you do have a specific issue in contacting your academic advisor, please email me asap so I can investigate c.staniland@shu.ac.uk.
If you are struggling with using Microsoft teams, please take a look at this resource again, use your academic advisor and student mentors as well. We have noticed that some people were not connected to the year group teams channel, possibly due to late enrolment. We are sending out updates on there so please check you can see it by following this join link.
You can find all information about academic advisors and groups, student mentors , and class reps on your BSc Physiotherapy course (L4:year1) organisation site , which you find in My Hallam under your modules. There is also a tab for staff details. I have added emails for your academic advisors to the academic adviser list and groups in case you hadn't found it and haven't connected yet on Microsoft teams.
