Grow +:
Component 1 of Grow Plus will soon be uploaded to the Course Organisation Site (Grow + tab), ready for you to discuss with your academic advisors in your upcoming group meetings. I will let you know when it is available.
Grow+ is a University-wide initiative that aims to provide you with the tools that will help you THRIVE during your journey throughout your years at University, and in life. GROW+ is for everyone and holistically supports your personal, academic and professional development, aiming to ensure that every student is prepared for highly skilled employment or further study upon graduation. At level 4 there are 5 components lasting no longer than 1 hour each.
GROW+ offers research-informed structured activities grounded to help you build confidence, and flourish.
GROW + will help you identify your strengths, understand your needs and to action plan, supporting you to have meaningful and effective discussion with you peers, staff and university advisers and helping you to decide on a career direction that feels right for you.
Engaging with GROW+ will help you to embark on a journey that enables you to know and understand yourself better and find, develop and excel in a fulfilling career.
GROW+ runs over the 3 years of your degree (you will also be able to access GROW+ as an alumnus too). There are 6 components per year (3 per semester) and you will cover three broad areas:
Level 4: Explore / Understand
Explore your skills and career pathways and take control of your planning and preparation for studies and career thinking. Understand your strengths and build knowledge, confidence and curiosity in yourself and your future.
Level 5: Develop/Care
Develop your skills, interests, values, and strengths, connecting them with your studies and opportunities in the modern world. Foster self-care habits and adopt a positive outlook to life.
Level 6: Apply/ Prepare for the future
Apply your knowledge in creative ways to improve decision making capacity and boost confidence and resilience as you prepare to move on to further study or begin your career; Taking responsibility for your future.
You will do activities, be signposted to relevant “Go Further” resources/ activities to further enhance your learning and “Talk to/ Discuss with” will prompt and support you to discuss elements of your learning or awareness during GROW+ with you advisers (academic, employability and student support), staff (e.g. lecturers/module leaders) and peers.
