APP2 - Please ensure all placement paperwork is submitted to BB and you have completed an evaluation of your placement. Please contact Hannah & Kirby for a placement debrief and/or support for your transition to professional working life when you leave us.
Placement feedback - As potential future Practice Educators we will be sending you a feedback questionnaire to explore your thoughts about placements. This will be invaluable in helping us to plan placements going forward. Your recent Practice Educators will still be expecting feedback.
Graduating and leaving SHU - Please look out for information from your Year Lead about what to do when you have finished your studies. There is a section on the Blackboard Course Organisational site under the preparing to graduate tab. There is new information under the careers tab which relates to working overseas.

The aim of these talks delivered by a member of Blesma, The Limbless Veterans Charity, is for real patients to share their inspiring stories about facing huge personal challenges, overcoming adversities and how they have found coping strategies to help them live a positive and fulfilling life. We will get to hear their real patient experiences!
There will be a lecture/workshop at 1-2 pm on the 19th May at 1pm with 2 injured veterans from Blesma who will share their impactful and affirming experiences of life-changing injury and the journey to overcoming physical devastation, mental health difficulties and loss. Each story will last around 10-15 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A. We will also be discussing resilience with the members of Blesma more closely and how we can develop this ourselves! They will be discussing sensitive topics but will provide warning before doing so, more detail is given in the Eventbrite booking link below!

The Energy Costs Bursary is available to support students with rising energy costs.
Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £60.
The fund is strictly limited and applications will close when available funds have been spent or on Tuesday 31 May 2022, whichever is earlier.
Please note the closing date has been extended until the end of May, however, applications may still close earlier if the available funds have been spent.
To be eligible to apply for this scheme you must:
· Be fully enrolled for the academic year 2021/22
· Be living in the UK
· Be able to prove you are contributing to an energy bill for your household
· Have a UK bank account in your name
You can apply regardless of any previous funding you may have received. International students can apply but must have a UK bank account. We cannot make payments to international bank accounts.
Students living in accommodation with fixed priced, all-inclusive bills are not eligible to apply.
Many of you have asked about what support is available when your performance in an assessment has been affected by something extenuating or if you are struggling to meet submission deadlines for various reasons. If you aren't sure what a RRAA or RESD are click on the links which will explain. Your AA and Student Support Adviser can help to provide advice on these processes if you need to use them or if you aren't sure. Getting in touch early to seek advice is helpful.
Over the last few months the team have been involved in a number of Academic Conduct meetings with students. This is not uncommon for written work but highlights that students may need support with their academic writing. Please make sure you understand the Academic Conduct Rules and how to apply these in your assessments. The library have some fantastic resources on referencing and how to ensure you are not plagiarising others work. Please check out their online study skills resources here. The module blackboard sites have information specific to the assessment and usually there are formative opportunities to get feedback on your draft plans/assignments. Please use the guidance on turnitin. You should be aiming to submit to turnitin before the deadline so you can check your submission originality and amend/change/rewrite sections if they flag up on your originality report. You don't need to submit front sheets, references or appendices to turnitin as this usually inflates your score. Just submit the main body of your assignment. The library team are on hand to help proof read your work and you can also ask your Academic advisor for general support. Don't forget that academic writing and referencing is a skill and is really tricky to get right at first. Once you have it becomes much easier.

What do our Student Support officers do?
All students allocated a Student Support Adviser (SSA) who will work closely with students Academic Adviser and Employ ability Adviser to provide a seamless support offer.
Provide opportunity for student to discuss pastoral concerns that are impacting on Academic and Day to Day life.
Listen and advise on a range of issues, make referrals to specialist services across the university.
Work proactively to identify support needs for student groups.
Work with cross University teams to develop and improve policy and processes.
Manage At Risk Students through the Sheffield Hallam At Risk Pathway (SHARP)
Provide confidential and non-judgemental service.

Kate Mackintosh at Sheffield Childrens NHS Foundation Trust is inviting students to volunteer and get involved in the sport and fitness camps they run for their patients. If you are interested in helping out this would be great for your CV particularly if you are thinking of Paediatric work when you qualify. The sessions happen throughout the school summer holidays.
