Important Practice Experience Clearance - Please check emails regularly and ensure that you respond to all communications from Professional Services and Occupational Health in a timely manner. It is your responsibility to complete all tasks before your Practice experience eg. immunisations, DBS checks etc. This is for your safety and the safety of service users, therefore failure to do so will exclude you from any patient facing activities. There are no exceptions to this. If you are not cleared you will not go out into practice. You are being invited to participate in a survey exploring how of prepared you feel going on placement. This information sheet gives you further information regarding the project PIS questionnaire.docx.
Participation is completely voluntary and anonymous. The data will be used to inform the development of simulated level 4 placement and evaluate its success. It will also help us understand any areas of development for the course in terms of preparedness for placement. If you do wish to participate, please complete the questionnaire via this link. Placement feedback: As you know, Kirby and Hannah are new additions to the placement team as Practice Learning Coaches. They would like to hear your thoughts on how you found support from your Coach, what you thought worked well and what you would change or adapt for next time.

PP1 - There will be a short placement debrief at the end of one of your lectures on Monday 21st March 2022 with the course leader and other staff.
PP2 - We are currently planning your PP2 allocations. The deadline for self-sourced placements has passed, so we cannot accept any more expressions of interest. If you might like to self-source a placement for year 3 please look at the resources on PP BB site for info. Please ensure you attend the placement preparation sessions which will be on your timetables in the next few weeks. These are compulsory and attendance registers will be taken.
L2 Exercise Award: Congratulations to those of you that have successfully passed the L2 Exercise Award last week. Gerry has marked your written work and uploaded your individual certificates as PDF's under the programme card feedback section. Please check you can see them and email Gerry on g.scott@shu.ac.uk if there are any issues. Huge well done. Gerry will be in contact about the L3 awards for those that have completed the L2 award successfully. Please make sure you download and keep your L2 awards PDF for future reference

A Two-Week Research and Innovation Placement Opportunity running from 16th to the 27th May 2022
Delivered both online via Zoom and to include two face-to-face events one on day one and the second at the end of the placement
For any health and social care students this placement will count towards your placement hours. Most importantly for all students this opportunity will provide valuable opportunity to gain skills needed to become an innovator and to develop personal skills to succeed in a future research role. The placement will provide an opportunity to:
· Work in a multi-disciplinary team with your peers from across the College,
· Gain insight into real world health and wellbeing innovations from within and outside of Sheffield Hallam,
· Gain a greater knowledge of health and wellbeing research methods, innovation concepts, and how to pitch your ideas,
· Develop self-awareness, build vision and confidence,
· Enhance your employability skills & your CV.
Eligibility
To be eligible to attend you must meet the following criteria:
· Be in the final year of your undergraduate degree programme (or final year of a postgraduate (level 7) pre-registration degree course if studying for a health or social work degree to register with a professional body ie Pre-Reg level 7 Social work students,).
· For those on health or social work courses you must have completed all your clinical competencies to date,
· You can only join this opportunity if you have completed all your expected course modules to date, i.e. if you have any trailing modules to complete you are recommended to focus on completing these trailing modules and therefore not eligible to join this extra research and innovation opportunity.
Successful applicants are expected to attend all the virtual and face to face events that make up the Research and Innovation in Health and Wellbeing Placement. An attendance record will be kept for all sessions and a minimum attendance record of 80% is a requirement to be awarded the placement certificate of achievement. Each participant is also expected to complete three tasks as part of the placement, a 2 minute elevator pitch recorded with their allocated team, a personal research and innovation plan and a self-reflection on skills learned during the course. It is also an expectation that participants will contribute to team activities throughout the placement, support fellows participants and contribute to shared goals of the allocated group.
