Course representatives - We really need more students to sign up to be Course Reps. This is open to all students at all levels. The commitment is small, a short training session, a few meetings a year with other course reps and staff and liaising with the students on your course (with other reps). This is a great opportunity for you to develop new skills and meet students and staff from around the University. Also, a great item for your CV when you are applying for jobs. Please see the information slide below on how to sign up. www.hallamstudentsunion.com/reps
Course Leader drop in - the next drop in is Monday 29th November at 1pm. Please click here to book a time slot.
Physiotherapy student society Summer ball - Friday 17th June 2022 - See the flyer below for more information.
Absence reporting - If you are expecting to be absent from a session or are unable to attend at short notice please ensure you complete the absence reporting form. There is a link on both your Blackboard course organisational sites and module blackboard sites. You can arrange to swap with another student in another group but cannot join another group without this arrangement. This is due to room capacity and safety guidance and we are trying to ensure the same guidance is consistent across all modules and years. If you are an Elite sport athlete you are able to swap sessions. Please discuss with the module leader if you are not sure.
Christmas Social events - see information flyer below. 🎄🎄🎄 More info to follow via Blackboard organisational sites
Practical sessions and professionalism - Please make sure you are wearing face masks in University when moving around inside buildings and whilst in practical sessions. Wear PPE as instructed by your lecturer in the session. You should be dressed appropriately for the session with shorts/vests etc. Please make sure you are doing regular lateral flow tests before attending face to face sessions. We expect students to be appropriately dressed and on time to all practical sessions. Please do not wear fake nails and eyelashes. We are trying to prepare you all for professional practice and poor standards will not be accepted in clinical practice.
Covid-19 Immunisation - Important advice for all students in relation to placement learning
Please note that the government has now published its response to the public consultation on whether to make COVID-19 a condition of deployment within health and social care settings. You can read the original consultation and the government's response here. The government's response confirms that they intend to proceed with enforcement from 1 April 2022, subject to parliamentary approval. At present, from 11 November 2021, all registered care home providers must ensure that they check visitor status as per government guidelines.
HEE advises that should any students or learners opt not to have the vaccination without medical reasons, they will need to talk to their university about the impact this will have on their progression through their programme. For further support and guidance, including for those who are exempt and may require further information on how to continue with placements, please contact your Course Management Team.
Book your coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination
A significant number of our placement providers expect their staff to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and these placements are now requiring all students who attend placement in their organisation also to be fully vaccinated. Any delays in ensuring that you are fully vaccinated could prevent you from commencing a placement.
Students are advised that they must follow their placement provider's policies and guidelines at all times while on placement in relation to Covid processes and reporting.
Covid 19 status for placement (practice experience). Please ensure you have read the letter sent by the placement team
In order to allocate placements to health and social care students who may be accessing care home settings as part of their mandatory course placements and to meet placement provider requirements for those already on placement, we need to collect information about the vaccination status of students on health and social care courses. You are requested to complete and submit the form at the link to confirm your vaccination status as soon as possible.
Industrial strike action - There are University staff strikes planned between the 1-3rd December 2021. Please look out for further information from the University centrally about how this may affect you. There may be disruption to some teaching and services but the University remains open. We are working hard to minimise any impact to you and will ensure any anticipated changes will be communicated asap.
