AHP Student Community of Practice
A Community of Practice is being created to provide a programme of events for all AHP students and we need your say to help organise these for you!
What is a Community of Practice and why is this being developed for AHP students?
A Community of Practice (CoP) is a collection of individuals who have a shared interest or passion about a topic and aim to deepen their knowledge and expertise through interacting with other professionals on a recurring basis (Wenger et al., 2002).
Why is this being developed for AHP students?
The aim of creating this CoP is to enhance our knowledge beyond our own professional disciplines and organisational boundaries to produce a community of students who collaborate together to take part in multi-professional learning by knowledge sharing, knowledge creation and social interaction. This valuable community of AHP students will enable us to collaborate and integrate with each other to form networks and peer supports across disciplines. This will enhance and build our professional identities as AHPs and complement the current integrated learning already provided to fundamentally help prepare us for the collaborative world we will work within upon qualifying.
Which AHPs will be involved in the Community of Practice at SHU?
Therapeutic Radiography
Diagnostic Radiography
Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy
Paramedic Science
Operating Department Practice.
Dietetics
Art Psychotherapy
What will this look like?
That is entirely up to you! We want to create events that you will engage with that will maximise your learning across disciplines in a way that works for you!
Please add your suggestions to the Padlet to share your ideas about future events or learning opportunities between AHP students.
Please click on this link to access the padlet and share your thoughts.
Any suggestions are welcome and if you have any further questions or suggestions, you can email the AHP Student Leader at b5009060@shu.ac.uk
