Tent Pitching

Tent Pitching

Refer to the Tent Pitching Manual for the steps to pitching a tent.

The Training Videos uploaded here helps you to visualise the process.

If you do not understand the content of the Tent Pitching Manual or the Training Videos, seek assistance from your Cadet Leaders or Instructors.

Step 1

  • Insert the 2 vertical poles through the horizontal pole
  • Place the inner sheet onto the poles


This step can be done later after steps 2 and 3 are done.

Step 2

  • Using BOWLINE, secure a piece of twine to the tent rings.


This step can be done before step 1 when the tent sheets are on the ground

Step 3

  • Hammer all 6 inner pegs into the ground.
  • For the position of the pegs, refer to the diagram in the Tent Pitching Manual.


This step can be done:

  • Before Step 1
  • At the same time as step 2

Step 4

  • Using TENT GUY LOOP, secure the twines to the pegs.

Step 5

  • Hammer in the door pegs.
  • Using CLOVE HITCH, secure a piece of twine to the pin of the vertical poles.
  • Using TENT GUY LOOP, secure the twines to the pegs.

Step 6

  • Hammer all 6 outer pegs into the ground.
  • Using BOWLINE and TENT GUY LOOP, secure twines from the tent ring to the outer pegs.


*NOTE: the position of the outer pegs in the video is WRONG.*

Step 7

  • Roll up the door flaps neatly and secure them using BUTTERFLY KNOT.
