This year 10 NPCC Units participated in our competition! After 3 hours and numerous games, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School bettered their result in 2015 and emerged the Champions! Bedok South Secondary School and Chung Cheng High School (Main) completed the podium by being the 1st and 2nd Runner-Ups respectively.

After the presentation, the Secondary 1 cadets, together with their classmates, put on role plays to demonstrate how to say NO to smoking!

While the cadets took a long time to prepare, it turned out to be a meaningful activity as the Secondary 2 cadets not only spread important messages about no smoking, they also get to practise their presentation skills! We hope that the message would help to deter the Secondary 1 students from picking up the bad habit of smoking!

NPCC Values-In-Action Programme 2016

As part of the Unit's contribution back to the community, the NPCC cadets engaged in various Values-In-Action (VIA) programme in the month of March and April!

The NPCC VIA programmes serve to inculcate the values of volunteering for the less fortunate and to remind our students to appreciate what they have in life.

The Secondary 1 cadets ran a 3-day fund raising sales in school, from 29th to 31st March, for the Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF). The cadets took their task responsibly and enthusiastically, going around the school to ask their friends and teachers to purchase the merchandise from CCF. Their efforts helped raised more than $300 in revenue for the Children's Cancer Foundation! Well done!

The Secondary 2 cadets embarked on a different programme as they proceeded to Willing Hearts on 14th and 21st April to serve the community. Willing Hearts operates a soup kitchen 365 days a year, that prepares, cooks and distributes about 5,000 daily meals to the needy islandwide. Our Secondary 2 cadets learned from the volunteers how to prepare the different food stuff and then assisted them in the preparation of the meals for the needy. Through this experience, the Secondary 2 cadets not only learned the importance of not wasting food, they also learned that serving others is indeed a happy thing to do!

Lastly, the Secondary 3 cadets took on an international project as they ran a soap collection drive for the Caring for Cambodia organisation to better the health of the students in Cambodia. Throughout the week-long collection drive, they eagerly rallied the efforts of their classmates and friends in school. Their efforts helped allowed them to collect a total of 400 bar soaps for the students in Cambodia!

We believe that our cadets have learned a lot through these VIA programmes and they would look forward to more of such programmes next time!

NPCC Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition 2016

Organised every two years in NPCC HQ, the Inter-Unit Campcraft Competition saw a total of 264 boys and girls teams from various NPCC units in Singapore participated in the Preliminary Round held on 23rd January and 30th January. Only the top 10 teams from each category can qualify for the Finals.

After 4 months of intensive training, the Boys Team led by SSgt (NPCC) Muhammad Hidayah B Mohd Sufee came in 91st in the Boys category and the Girls Team led by SSgt (NPCC) R Yuvadharani Naidu came in 59th in the Girls category.

During the 4 months of training, the cadets trained tirelessly. They have transformed from cadets who are poor in campcraft, to a team which manage to complete the campcraft sequence during the competition within 10 and 12 minutes respectively.

While the results can be better, it has seen a 50-placing jump in both categories as compared to 2014. The hard work and perseverance of the cadets ensured that the Loyang flag flew high and they should be applauded!

We hope that we can keep it up and have a better showing in 2018!
