iPad Apps
This page provides the list of approved iPad apps to install on MJUSD iPads. If you would like an app that is not in this list, then please submit a ticket requesting the app. All requested apps need to be verified that the app is in compliance with California law regarding student privacy.
Verification Process
We read the privacy information on the App Store and the privacy policy on the developer's website to determine what, if any, data is being collected. If no data is being collected, then we can deploy the app.
If data is being collected, we check this database to see if the developer has signed a contract with any other school district to state they are in compliance with California student privacy laws. If the developer has refused a contract, then we deny deployment of the app.
If the developer has signed a contract with another school district, then we reach out to the developer to sign a contract with us. They typically will work with us, if they have worked with another district, but if they refuse, then we deny deployment of the app.
If the app costs money, then I need to reach out to the school's office to see if they approve purchasing the licenses for the app. Prices vary by app, and we usually can get discounts if we purchase the licenses in bulk. If the office does not want to purchase the licenses, then we can't deploy the app.
