Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been designing their very own cams! They worked in groups, came up with a design and today they executed their designs! Check them out!
Today was 'National Science Day'! The children had a range of different activities to do the entire day!
To start with they became Geologists and delved deep into learning all about rocks! They then moved onto experimenting with magnets!
Plants again! This week the children learnt all about 'Photosynthesis'! They learnt how plants make their own food and how plants make the world work! They created posters to demonstrate their learning.Â
As you know Year 3 have been learning all about Plants! This week they carried out an investigation to identify what plants need to survive. Children were split into three groups. Group one had no sunlight, group two had no water and group three had no air. They measured their plant over the course of 5 days and presented their results in a graph.
This week in Maths, children have been learning all about 'Length'! They looked at length in metres and centimetres before moving on to kilometres. They learnt to measure different items using centimetres, metres and kilometres. They also converted different units of measurement as well as comparing different lengths.Â
Year 3, had an incredible time celebrating World Book Day! The loved exploring different books and characters! We kicked off the day with parents coming in to read with their children. Children then took part in the National Literacy Premier League Quiz! Following that they created and submitted some designs for the next National Book Token. It was an incredible day!
 Year 3 had an amazing opportunity to visit Tower Bridge. To begin with they recieved a guided tour in the Tower Bridge Museum, they learnt about the special machines that were used to operate opening the bridge to let massive ships through. The tour then took them inside the bridge where they got to explore and identify London's amazing landmarks! Following that children recieved a special workshop where they learnt all about the River Thames and its uses now compared to the Victorian era. Â
To conclude our learning on 'Forces and Magnets', children carried out an investigation to find out which coins are magnetic and which ones are not. What do you think the results were?
This week Year 3 went to the Museum of Docklands in connection to their learning on the Victorian Era! Children were given the chance to explore and investigate real 19th century artefacts. They got their hands on original tools, everyday household objects and photographs which gave them a glimpse into jobs and living conditions of people who lived near the docks. As they walked through 'Sailortown', they experienced what the shops and streets were like during the Victorian era. This educational visit left children with a deeper understanding of life during the Victorian era. Â
For the last two week, Year 3 have done some incredible learning in Science. Children have been learning about 'Forces and Magnets'. They started off understanding and testing friction, they rolled a car on three different surfaces to see how far it would go. They recorded their results on a table and a grah!Â
Following that lesson, they completed a test on magnetic forces, they tested the strength of different magnets!
In English, Year 3 have been watching an animation called 'Blue Umbrella'. They have produced some excellent writing as the story progressed. They also had an experience lesson where they delved deeper into understanding how the characters are feeling and what they're thinking. Keep an eye out for their independent write which is coming soon!
To kicj this half-term off, children were introduced to their new topic 'Victorian Urban Planners'. They spent a whole afternoon exploring this new topic!
