As a school we are commited to supporting the mental health of all children. Place 2 Be is a charity that works to support the mental health of children across the UK. We raised over £700 by completing different challenges all day long. We worked together in teams to keep running for 15 minutes without stopping. We have been reading the book The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers. The main character is a boy in a red and white striped top. We were so lucky that he popped into the classroom for a visit when Mr Fortune was away. He was so jealous that we got to ask lots of questions and find out more about the boy in our story.

This term we are learning around the theme Leaving Home. Part of this involves talking about why people might want to or be forced to leave their country. To understand this better and learn the vocabulary of migration and immigration we played a game in the playground. We had a lot of fun and by the end we all understood the reasons why people might move between countries.

This week we took our learning outside and onto the Manor Learning Bus. In science, we have been learning about animals and how to groups them. Mr Fortune hid the pictures we needed in the playground so we had to find them before we could sort them. Then on the bus we watched videos and labeled out own pictures. We were able to sort animals by the characteristics they have.

In art this week we began to look at printing. We used various objects to create patterns and shapes. We only used one colour this time so we could focus on the different shapes we could make. Next week we are going to continue our artistic experimentation by adding colours and see how we can develop our patterns.
