This week was British Science Week. In Year 1 we had an amazing time working with our friends in Reception to investigate this years theme of Growth. We learnt about how we get taller as we grow older and how fitness is important to ensure our bodies grow healthy and strong.

This week we have been learning about what animals eat. We know that animals can be split into three groups. Herbivores, Omnivores and Carnivores. Working in teams we were able to seperate the animals into the 3 groups and create a poster to help others to learn and understand about animal diets.

This week we have continued looking at our story The Way Back Home by Oliver Jeffers. In the story the boy and the alien are able to communicate with eachother using a walki-talki. We make our own using cups and string and were able to pretend to be the characters and imagin what they would talk about. We are sure they became best friends forever!

We went out into the playground this week and we found a big mess! We found the wreckage of an alien space ship. There were no aliens around but they left us a note. They were here to investigate the animals on our planet and were asking for our help. We are going to work together this half-term to help the aliens learn all about the animals on our planet!
