This year’s Innovations Conference provided an excellent platform for educators around the world to share leading-edge practices in teaching, learning, and leadership across community colleges. I attended about 15 breakout sessions and took some really good notes. Here are the key takeaways that I feel well align with our mission and priorities, especially in these categories: strategic enrollment management, academic scheduling, student readiness, faculty and staff engagement, and innovation and change management...
Where are you from originally and/or currently?
I was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to Arizona when I was 19 and have been here since.
What is your educational background?
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Sculpture, Associate Degree in Computer Science, an Accounting Certification and some Library Science Master Degree classes.
What do you love doing the most in your work?
I love helping people and find great satisfaction doing so. Working in a library there is always new information and materials coming in which is exciting!
If you were to take a course in something, what would it be?
I saw there were knife making, crocheting with wire, and gardening noncredit classes offered at NPC that looked really interesting! I will hopefully take one of those or something similar soon :)!
What are your favorite things to do/eat/read?
My favorite things to do involve being outdoors whether it is walking on a beach, kayaking, hiking, or chilling in my hammock. My favorite foods are chips and popcorn. I currently just finished reading "The Cabin" which was a fun read and just started "A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession" which is pretty interesting too!
What goal are you dreaming about completing?
One goal I am dreaming of completing is hiking all the Arizona Trail! I would also love to visit every National Park!

Early College Advisors are busy preparing to get students registered starting the 14th for TALON and Early College Waiver public courses. Each advisor will be visiting their assigned high schools over the next 2 weeks to advise students on FA25 registration. After all of these students are registered, we will move on to the slower process of building Dual Enrollment classes and registering students. This process will continue until the first week of courses. Lastly, we are already preparing for FA25 Advisement day for all of our NAVIT students this August.
