OAI has officially moved into our new office space at the SCC, we are now located in room LC-103. We are very excited to have such an amazing office space. Our hope is to create a space where students feel safe and comfortable making it possible for them to share openly about their disability related concerns. Feel free to stop by as we settle in and share your thoughts and ideas.
February was a busy month, Heather and I worked together to provide outreach and information sharing opportunities. We visited both the Automotive and Welding NAVIT classes at WMC to further the information theses students learned about OAI during Division Day in January. The questions from those students is always so helpful. We were also invited to support Early College at their High School Appreciation Day. What an amazing event our amazing EC team put together. It was great to chat with our high school partners about OAI and discuss the difference between college and high school accommodations. A few of the high school indicated an interest in having OAI come out and visit with their students. I am very excited about this opportunity to inform future NPC students about OAI and how they access our services!
Kate accompanied Josh Rogers to Arizona Western College for National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) Structured Interview for Violence Risk Assessment (SIVRA-35) training. You might ask why this is something that we needed to attend……well this training will support Josh and I in our role as co-chairs for NPC’s CARE Team. The training we very informative and pretty intense. But a key piece to ensure we have the tools we need when student concerns are reported to the CARE Team. Thank you, Josh Rogers, for the invite.
Heather and I are looking forward to another busy month, as we set up our office and collaborate with our community partners and other departments at NPC.

Early College has been extremely busy this last month. We finished registration earlier than ever and are actively advising high school students so they can get the most out of their early college experience. We're working on grad apps for students who have completed enough credits to get a CP or degree and advising those that are getting close, so they don't waste any opportunities.
Josh has written a strategic communication plan to help facilitate better communication between NPC and our high school partners. This plan has been approved by VPLSS and is ready to go into implementation.
Lastly, EC hosted our High School Partners Appreciation Day (formerly Early College Convocation). We had over 40 attendees from high schools across the district there. We had great tacos from Romos Food Truck, learned about Moodle, OAI and how NPC and the high schools can better support each other. Next on our to-do list is gear up for NAVIT registration.
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 which also happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday. Check out some of the library's recent Einstein-related titles listed on the March Library newsletter. Also in March is Tolkien Reading Day, which is a great time to read or re-read his books, watch the movies, or learn more about J.R.R. Tolkien with books, audiobooks and movies available at the NPC Library.
