Innovation Connections is a monthly newsletter that features Instructional Innovation Division updates and college-wide innovation and collaboration. Contact Luann Crosby, Director of Library Services, if you wish to contribute to the content.
At NPC, innovation is about solving real problems for students and the college. From distance learning modalities, Open Educational Resources to the new ERP system, it is all about removing barriers to access, improving student success, and building a sustainable future for our institution. As the discussion about innovation continues within various campus groups, many of the barriers our students face have been identified as structural challenges related to geography, work schedules, family responsibilities, transportation, technology access, and finances. Innovation gives us the tools to rethink how we design programs, deliver instruction, and support learning so that these barriers do not determine who succeeds...
Dr. Broyles has been embraced by many groups as he presents on Instructional Support (IS) around the college. Thank you for your warm welcomes! He will continue to present to various groups.
Curriculum Updates
Curriculum season moves forward on schedule. Note the forthcoming deadlines and dates per the Instructional Council calendar. You still have time to register for the AZTransfer Summit.
Instructional Design Updates
Professor De Bellis did an excellent job overseeing the Blackboard transition. Blackboard is now up and running! We appreciate her guidance and expertise.
If you need anything from IS, feel free to reach out to Dr. Broyles (michael.broyles@npc.edu).
Things are getting busier for the testing center now that students are back in classes. Instructors and advisors are doing amazing work supporting NPC students. We are glad to aid in this effort.
A new online test request form is online located on the NPC website under the hamburger menu: https://www.npc.edu/testing-center. The completed form will be forwarded to the testing team for scheduling. The extra information collected will be used to provide better service for each exam.
We want to welcome our new proctor, Kristin Madore. She will begin supporting our testers in March. She will be a great addition to our team along with Jayda Halverson and Brandon McLaws.
February isn't just a month for chocolates, valentines and roses – it's National Library Lovers' Month! You can combine the two by visiting the NPC Library at your favorite location and checking out a book or two about love. Read the February 2025 Library Newsletter to see a list of some titles about love available at the NPC Library. You can also see pictures from our Discovery Nest activity in December where participants made 3-D star ornaments.
Well SAS has been back at it. With the support of our amazing faculty and staff, we have worked through our Spring 2026 presentations with great success. I am sure I will have a few more presentations in the coming month, but the majority of them are complete and our students have been given valuable information about SAS resources and how to access it if they need to. If you wish to have SAS present to your students or to your faculty and staff, it is never too late to reach out and make that request. You can email us at sas@npc.edu - either myself or my assistant Talon will follow up to get a day and time scheduled. You all are a vital part of getting information to our students about resources student can access. SAS is here to support that effort so please contact us with any questions or concerns you might have. It takes us all to support enrollment, retention, and completion! I just want to say thank you again for all the support!
