Innovation Connections is a monthly newsletter that features Instructional Innovation Division updates and college-wide innovation and collaboration. Contact Luann Crosby, Director of Library Services, if you wish to contribute to the content.
As we wrap up 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a very busy and productive fall for the Division of Instructional Innovation. Across the division, we have seen increased demand for our services, along with several major projects moving forward at the same time. I'm incredibly grateful for the flexibility and collaboration our colleagues have shown throughout the semester...
It has been a busy and positive month for the testing center. With the opening of the new Goldwater building at the White Mountain Center, we will have designated space at WMC for testing. We will be moving into the room vacated by the advising team.
As always we want to thank the librarians, support staff, and instructors who help support student success. It is amazing to work with such kind and dedicated educators.
We are working to provide an online test request form. Thank you to all of those who have offered input and recommendations. We also want to thank you all for your patience while we refine our processes.
Our partnerships with outside colleges are growing. We are proctoring exams for students taking courses outside of NPC and even out of state.

Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them
December is a great time to curl up with a new book or to enjoy rereading a well-loved favorite. Often after reading a fantastic book, you want to discuss it with others. You can do that each month at a virtual book group called Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them. Our next meeting is Wednesday, December 10 at 2:00 pm. You're invited to join us! The December 2025 Library Newsletter highlights a few of the great books that have been discussed at previous meetings this year.
Discovery Nest
There will be a Discovery Nest activity at the Silver Creek Campus Library in Snowflake on Monday, December 22 from 10:00 to 2:00. This activity is for all ages five and older, including teens and adults. Participants will create a 3-D Star Ornament. For pictures and a video showing the project, visit the Discovery Nest page.
Wow, the Fall 2025 semester sure did fly by this year. SAS extends a very warm wish to each of you for a very Happy Holiday season! I personally would like to thank you all for the continued support and active sharing of SAS information with our students and fellow NPC staff and faculty. It is through this willingness to share that the information about SAS gets to our students and they in turn get the support they need while attending NPC classes. Thank You!!!
I will be reaching out to start scheduling for presentations during the Spring 2026 semester. I know a lot of you may not think that you need me to come in since I already shared the information in August, so that means that most of your students have already heard about SAS. But keep this in mind as I reach out please, sometimes students feel that because college is set up differently than high school they will not need accommodations, but as time passes they struggle and fall behind. Coming out to your classes again allows me to reconnect with the student who felt that way in August and now might be more open to discussing their concerns and scheduling time to visit with me. If you do not receive a request to present to your students and you wish to have me come out, please email me as soon as possible at sas@npc.edu so we can get your class on my calendar.
There have been major changes here in the Instructional Support Department! The most prominent is our name change. We have officially transitioned from Instructional Technology and Curriculum Support to Instructional Support (IS). Likewise, the job title for the Department Chair is now Faculty in Instructional Support. Dr. Michael Broyles has transitioned into this new role.
What hasn’t change is our dedication to serving you. Whether it’s instructional design consultation, syllabi reviews, training, and more, we are here to help. You may view a list of our full services on our NPC page.
Curriculum Updates
Articulation Task Force (ATF) season is over. Thank you to those who represented NPC! Note the forthcoming deadlines per the Instructional Council calendar. Further, note the time, place, and proposal deadlines for the AZTransfer Summit.
Instructional Design Updates
The main focus in Instructional Design continues to be the Blackboard transition. A big thank you to Professor Andi De Bellis and Babette Kraft for their work on this! And a big thank you to YOU for your continued work with them. Please check your emails for the dates of Professor De Bellis’ training sessions.
Starting in the spring semester, Dr. Broyles will be presenting to many groups about our department’s services, structure, and goals. We hope you can catch one of those presentations! Until then, feel free to reach out to him with any questions (michael.broyles@npc.edu).

Reindeer are prominent in our holiday music and images. They pull Santa’s sleigh, have red noses, have names, and fly. But how much do you really know about this northernmost deer species?
Happy holidays to you from the Division of Instructional Innovation!
