December 2024
As we prepare to welcome Dr. Lawson as our new president in January, I am writing to share some personal reflections and extend my heartfelt thanks to the many individuals who have made this semester such a meaningful and productive time. With Dr. Lawson's arrival, I will transition out of the Interim Vice President for Learning role and return to my position as Dean of the Division of Instructional Innovation (DII). It has been an honor to serve in this interim capacity, and I want to take a moment to express my appreciation to those who supported me during these past seven months.
First and foremost, I want to thank the incredible DII team for their patience, dedication, and commitment to supporting our students, faculty and staff. Balancing my additional responsibilities meant I could not spend as much time with you all as I would have liked, but I am deeply proud of everything we have accomplished together. From Early College to Instructional Technology and Curriculum Support (ITCS), Library Services, Office of Accessibility and Inclusion (OAI), and the Testing Center, your efforts have ensured that we continue to make a positive impact every day.
I also want to express my gratitude to my co-Interim VPLSS, Jeremy Raisor, members of the VPLSS Council, and members of the President's Cabinet. Your trust, collaboration, and support were invaluable as we shared important leadership responsibilities during Dr. Solomonson’s service as Interim President. Your partnership shows the spirit of teamwork that makes our college a special place.
A special thank you goes out to the colleagues across the college who contributed to the work of both the VPLSS Office and DII. I am especially grateful to Pam Dominguez, Assistant to the VPLSS, and Amanda Sutter, Administrative Assistant to DII and IC. Your hard work, efficiency, and professionalism have been a blessing, and I truly could not have navigated these months without your support.
Finally, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Solomonson for stepping up to lead the college during this transitional period. Your steady leadership and commitment have been a source of continuity that helps our college remain on course during a time of change.
As we approach the holidays, I hope each of you takes time to celebrate the season and recharge for the new year ahead. It has been a privilege to serve in this interim role, and I look forward to continuing our important work with you all.
