November is a great time to give thanks and gather our thoughts for the year ahead. I want to take a moment to reflect on the recent Fall 2024 Planning Retreat and how it aligns with the work we are doing together. At the Retreat, nine key areas embedded in our 2025-2030 strategic directions (Facilitating Enduring Student Success and Cultivating Institutional Excellence) were discussed in depth. Among them, three areas of focus were voted as top priorities, including (1) Clear Internal Processes, (2) Continuous, Fiscally Responsible and Data-Informed Strategic Planning, and (3) A Healthy, Value-Driven Institutional Culture...

Where are you from originally and/or currently?
I was born and raised in Thatcher, AZ. After getting married and graduating from NAU my husband and I moved to Taylor, AZ where we have lived for 34 years and raised our family.
What is your educational background?
I have a BS in elementary education. After working in the library for several years, I received an AAS in library science at NPC.
What do you love doing the most in your work?
I really enjoy working with students, and one of the best parts of my day is helping them find the resources they need to succeed in their classes. It’s also so fun to just hear about their day.
What are your favorite things to do/eat/read?
I love to travel, especially when it involves being outdoors. One of my favorite summer activities is camping with family and friends. I also have a deep love for Mexican food, and right now, I’m particularly obsessed with street tacos—they’ve quickly become my go-to favorite! I’m also a big football fan, get me tickets and I’m there to any game.
What goal are you dreaming about completing?
I’m really looking forward to retirement and spending as much time as possible with my family, especially my grandkids. As a mom, I loved being at all my kids’ sporting events, music performances, school activities, and church gatherings. Now that they’re grown, I hope to share those same moments with my grandkids. On my travel wishlist I would love to go on a Mediterranean cruise and a Panama Canal cruise, but honestly, any destination would be amazing!
At the moment, the Testing Center is making some changes to improve or change the way testing services are being delivered. Also, we are reaching out to other schools who have requested testing services at WMC. We are networking with the libraries in Show Low and Holbrook where our testing services are being advertised. We have a new Tech Hub aide, MyNel Nash, at the Hopi Center and a new Learning Assistant/Proctor, Bethany Shuler, who just started at WMC!
The Library hosted a booth at NPC's recent Eagle Fest held at the Little Colorado Campus. Participants who visited the booth were invited to participate in a bookface challenge. The challenge is completed by matching up your face or other body part with a book that has a face or body part on the cover and snapping a picture. Here's one photo taken at the event to let you see how it works.

This month we continued to progress in our outreach initiatives, which are aimed at enhancing our services for students.
This month, we successfully connected with the massage therapy students here at the Snowflake campus. Additionally, we engaged with the NASAA-Special Education Directors on the White Mountain and will be making visits to Sequoia Village High School and other high schools in the area. These efforts are just a beginning of our commitment to foster relationships in the community and educate all students who self-identify as having a disability to have access to necessary accommodations. We look forward to continue to build on these community connections in the coming months.

Early College is as busy as ever. We have completed Spring 2025 course builds. Our advisors are busy at the high school campuses, advising students on spring courses and post high school plans. We're planning Spring 2025 Advisement Day for the NAVIT students. We're also getting ready for High School Partners Appreciation day.
