MAKING NEW FRIENDS
Today my Erasmus+ experience began as part of the students of the Digital Marketing Strategies for Schools in Porto. I've met my classmates over the next week. In class we have school mates from Bulgaria. Once the presentations were made, they explained to us the objectives of the course and the basic principles on which digital marketing strategies model is based. After lunch, we were able to enjoy an entertaining cultural tour through the most extraordinary corners of this magical city.

On the second day of the course, we began the class by discussing how to identify our "target," that is, our target audience—the group of people to whom the product or service is directed. To do this, we must thoroughly understand our audience so that we know how to communicate effectively and meet their needs. We also discussed the importance of having a well-defined strategy.

Applying what we’ve learned
On the third day, we started with a practical case where we had to think about what our target audience might look like and then create a digital marketing strategy using the three steps we had learned earlier. This led into the second part of the class, where we discussed whether we had a website and the type of content that is published on it. We also talked about using email as a tool in marketing strategies, as well as newsletters, which are essential nowadays. Additionally, we explored the different social media platforms that can be used, noting how some are more popular in certain countries and types of schools than others. Lastly, we discussed Google Ads. Finally, we discussed social media and how to implement the three steps we had previously covered: reach, consideration, and conversion, along with some tips for effective implementation.

Learning to be SEO
On the fourth day of the course, we discussed some fundamental concepts that need to be considered in order to define, develop, and implement a digital marketing strategy.
In this way, we talked about CMS. A CMS (Content Management System) is a system that allows users to create, manage, and modify website content without needing technical programming knowledge. It provides a user-friendly interface for content creation, user management, and site organization. It includes tools to change the site's appearance through themes and allows adding functionalities through extensions. Popular CMS examples are WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal. These systems make website management easier and are ideal for those seeking an accessible and efficient solution for managing their online presence.
We also discussed the types of content we can publish in a post or on a page, how we can organize it into categories and tags, and how to access the content we plan to publish through menus and permalinks. Afterwards, we defined what SEO is. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of improving a website's visibility and ranking on search engines. It focuses on making a website appear in the top positions of search results through techniques such as:
Content Optimization: Creating relevant and high-quality content.
Keyword Research: Identifying and using relevant keywords.
On-Page Optimization: Adjusting internal elements of the website like titles and descriptions.
Off-Page Optimization: Increasing the site's authority through backlinks.
Technical Optimization: Improving technical aspects of the site such as load times and mobile compatibility.
Analysis and Monitoring: Evaluating and adjusting the website's performance.
The goal of SEO is to enhance visibility and attract more targeted traffic to the website.
Finally, we discussed marketing strategies for emails.

Digital marketing isn't easy to adapt in a school setting. That's why it's essential to have strategies in place to implement and achieve the pre-established goals. However, there is no magic formula when it comes to marketing. During the first part of the session that day, we summarized all the concepts learned throughout the week and discussed any aspects or doubts that had arisen. During the the second part, we held the final course ceremony. We took photos with our certificates and said our goodbyes with a bit of sadness, as we had spent a great week learning about Marketing.
