DAY 1 - LOADING...

EUROPASS TEACHER ACADEMY

First day in Florence and first day at Europass school. Clil for teachers: focus in Florence seems to be quite interesting.

MEETING PARTNERS

During the morning we have met each other, we have shown information about our schools, towns and students.

CLIL FOR TEACHERS

Then, we have learnt about how ti develop CLIL in our class and how to organize the 4Cs.

In groups we have made a lesson plan about food.

INTERESTING TOUR

In the afternoon I could enjoy a tour around the city. I visited the Cathedral, some churchs, the bridge and some palaces. It is a incredible city!

DAY 2 - DISCOVERING...

CLIL

We have talked about Hard and Soft CLIL .
Not only academic subjects are taught in CLIL but also activities like photography, cooking and yoga.

NON NATIVE SPEAKERS

CLIL requieres knowing how to create and incorporate reading, listening, writing and speaking activities for non native speakers of a language. Receptive skills: listening and reading.

Productive skills: writing and speaking.

We have undertood the diference between fluency and accuracy.

Fluency : the ability to get a message across.

Accuracy : spekaing exactly like a native or 100% grammar correctless.

Reading activity Authentic materials

We have created a reading activity . We have chosen an article, we have found some words we would pre- teach providing simple defintions based on the context.

Then, we wrote six questions to ask our students to check their comprehension of the article. Finally we have designed a review activity to do at home.

How to use Music and cinema in our lessons

We have learnt how to develop Music activities with children. We should follow these ideas:

1) Global picture or general idea

2) Specific details

3) Confimation, getting what you missed

To finish the day, we have visited Franco Zeffirelli Museum, an Italian director, designer, and producer of opera, theatre, motion pictures, and television, particularly noted for the authentic details and grand scale of his opera productions and for his film of William Shakespeare.

This museum hosts over 250 works by Maestro Zeffirelli, including set designs, drawings and costume sketches.

Day 3 - LOVING...

Food and CLIL

Today, we have learnt how to use food to develop CLIL lessons with our students.

Watching videos and reading comprehensions about traditional dishes could be really useful.

Recipes are good to get studetns involved in tasks. They show cutural aspects.

CHOICE IS MOTIVATING

We chose a tuscan recipe and we developed a CLIL lesson . We decided the pre- teach words and their definitions. Then, we wrote some questions and the final task studetns will do.

FASHION AND CLIL

Advertismets could be a good option to develop CLIL lessons. Fashion is a nice topic to develop students interest. They can learn lots of vocabulary and grammar structures.

Roberto Cavalli

He is a famous italian designer.

He is known for exotic prints and for creating the sand-blasted look for jeans. The high-end Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli sells luxury clothing, perfume and leather accessories.

Before going to the Museum we have read about his life and his shoes. We were given some small extracts from a complete text and we should order them to find out the information about this famous shoemaker.

Ferragamo Museum

Museo Salvatore Ferragamo is a company museum, dedicated to the history of the Ferragamo company, the life of its founder and his creations.

To finish the day, we have discovered some facts about Gucci and his company. We have focus on reading with a text realted to the story of Maurizio Gucci and Patrizia Reggiani.

DAY 4- SEE YOU SOON

The Medici family

Today we focused on the Medici family, one of the most important families in Italy. They ruled until 1737. Fist, we watched a video about the Medici family. Then, we did a dictation and we checked it reading the whole text.


After the dictation, we matched some pictures to their descriptions using their family tree.

It was really interesting!

We have discovered Medici family origin with this video. After listening the video, we should complete a reading text with some missing words.

Roleplay

We have done a roleplay about the Medici. Each student acted as a character of this theatre play and we focused on pronunciation and accuracy.

It was fun!

Finally, we had the opportunity to visit the Medici Palace and their chapel. It was really beautiful!

At the end of the day, Sheila gave me my certificate. It has been a wonderful time in Florence and I really enjoyed the course.
