INTRODUCING CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES TO THE LANGUAGE CLASSROOM
GALWAY 11- 15th April 2022
Monday, 11th April
Today was the first day of the course. We began with several communicative icebreakers to know each other in a very funny way. We also discuss our learning goals for this course and we began working with paddle and metimeter. All the activities and resources we are using are great for our classes.
After lunch we went for a walking tour. We could get to know the city but also each other as we talked a lot during the walk. We are teachers from Italy, Germany, France and Spain, and we are looking forward to exchanging experiences and materials.
Tuesday, 12th April
Second day of the course. We have discussed about CLIL, the importance of integrating content and language in a motivating way that creates a deeper knowledge for our students. We have also analysed different lesson plans about climate change and we have selected some activities suitable for our students.
Wednesday, 13th April
Today we have rewieved PBL, project based learning. We've focussed on driven questions and the best way to formulate them. After having a great lunch together we went to visit the Cliffs of Moher. The landscape was breathtaking and we had the chance to know each other better and to talk about future projects in common.
Thursday, 14th April
During the morning we reviewed some lessons about Climate Change. After lunch we have the chance to begin working in our lessons/projects plans. We managed to do a lot of work and to exchange previous experiences
Friday, 15th April
Each participant presented his lesson/project plan. Then, we did self-assesment, peer assesment and we received very valued feedback from our teacher. Now, our project is ready to become a reality at school!!
