We are visiting "Scoala Gimnaziala Dimitri Cantemir". During the next five days, we are going to share ideas and experiences with teachers from the other countries involved in the project.

Objectives:

  • Increasing the cultural knowledge.

  • Learning about each other’s countries and schools.

  • Observing applications of cross-curricular lessons and the impact on students.

  • Acquiring new methods of teaching.

  • Experiencing the RO culture and lifestyle

  • Improving organization communication and skills.

  • Acquiring skills related to the organization of local environmental campaigns for water issues.

WARM WELCOME

We arrive at the town hall of Oradea where we received a warm welcome. The local authorities, teachers, students and families were waiting for the rest of members involved in this Erasmus project. We could enjoy listening to different traditional songs of each country.

After that, we went to the school where we could visit different lessons. There, some students were waiting for us with some bread and salt, that is the Romanian way of saying, "welcome in my house", a traditional custom expressing hospitality, showing that the guest is welcomed

In the afternoon, we did a tour around the city visiting the main the monuments . They were incredible!

3rd of march

It's our second day in this wonderful town and we feel excited about all the new things that we are learning an visiting.

During the morning, we have visited the Tarii Crisurilor Museum, The wood church, that is something quite common here, in Romania, and Oradea University.

After lunch, we have gone to the school to keep on working. Our Romanian partners have organised a 5th grade science lesson related to our main topic: water. They did several experiments about the states of water: solid, liquid and gas. We could talk to the students and ask them about their learning process.

At the end of the school day, all the teachers could analyze and debate about the lesson and we could add some extra ideas to improve it. It was quite enriching !

Today, we could enjoy learning with our Poland partners. They have presented their school and all the activities related to water that they have been doing during the two last months . They were really interesting and motivating, children seem to be excited about this project.

visiting the bear's cave

In the afternoon, we went to Chiscau, where we could visit an incredible cave where bears used to live.

Bears' Cave received its name after the 140 cave bear skeletons which were discovered on the site in 1983. The cave bear, also known as Ursus spelaeus, is a species of bear which became extinct during the Last Glacial Maximum, about 27,500 years ago.

The cave has three galleries and four halls: The Candles Hall, Emil Racovita Hall, The Spaghetti Hall and The Bones Hall.

5th of march

We have woke up early in the morning to visit the "Felix Baths Resort" that is 9 km far from Oradea. Baile Felix is the largest resort in the country, which has already earned a well-deserved reputation both in Romania and abroad.

Located in a very picturesque geographically, being favored by a moderate continental climate of the lowlands and hills, with mild winters and temperate under the influence of factors such as the Mediterranean, Baile Felix keeps its purely character as a resort through the inexhaustible richness of thermo-mineral waters.

In 1896, the waters of this resort have been awarded with gold medal and diploma of honor.

The forest surrounding the resort is ideal for sports lovers and not only. Among the activities we mention riding, paintball, mountain biking, trail running or just a simple walk in nature.

cross curricular activities - turkey

In the afternoon we could listen to our Turkish partners talking about their school and the activities they have done related to the use of water.

The most interesting activity was their garden where students usually plant seeds or water plants. It's a good way to learn how vegetables and plants grow. Apart from that, students could discover one of the most important uses of water: agriculture.

6th of march

It's our last day in Oradea and we are very sad about leaving.

During the morning we have visited the Kindergarden where the youngest students welcomed us with their typical bread and salt to make us feel as at home. There, we could enjoy with different dances of each country. They were amazing!

spanish cross curricular activities

It's our turn and we have to present all the activities that our students have developed during the last two months.

The logo was the first activity. We organised a school contest to create a logo that represents the project topic. We published some logos in the school media (Twitter, facebook, etc) to allow students, teachers and families to vote. The winner recorded a video explaining the meaning of the logo.

After that, we showed all the experiments that students have made with water and their presentations about the importance of our main topic: water pollution.

Students have learnt a lot when working on this project, it has been a new experience and they really loved it!
