Kent Schools Trampoline Championships
On Tuesday 19th March, four Year 9 girls went to The Jumpers Rebound Centre in Gillingham to compete in the Kent schools Trampoline Championship. The students worked so hard with their ten bounce routines which they performed twice. The girls were against at least 26 other competitors from a variety of schools. Tabitha came 3rd overall in the individual competition receiving her trophy and the team came 2nd overall out of all of the teams competing.

Year 7 and 8 Dartford and Gravesend District Sportshall athletics success
On Thursday 29th February the Year 7 and 8 sportshall athletics team competed at the District event at Cobham Hall. The Year 7 boys team won Gold beating the best athletic schools in the area. The Year 7/8 girls team and Year 8 boys team also performed extremely well, winning silver.

Gymnastics - The Leigh Academy Boys Under 13’s and 16’s gymnastics team at the National finals
On the 10th December, the boys gymnastics team competed in the South-East gymnastics finals in the U13 and U16 Boys trio category. They achieved two first place finishes allowing both teams to qualify for the National finals.
On the 28th January the boys gymnastics team competed in the South- East gymnastics finals (floor and vault) which they won, qualifying them for the National finals.
The British Schools Gymnastics Associations (BSGA) national gymnastics trios finals competition was held on Friday 8th March in Stoke-on-Trent. The Leigh Academy were competing in the Boys Under 13 and 16 sections. The competition consisted of three disciplines: vault; individual floor routine and a group floor routine.
The BSGA Under 16 boys trio achieved a gold medal in the combined region competition with The Weald and the Under 13 boys trio team achieved a silver with St John's in the combined region competition.
There could be more to come for The Leigh Academy gymnastics team as they have qualified for the Nationals finals in the floor and vault competition held later this year in the U19 boys category.
