A round up of all the exciting events in English

Year 10 and 11 enjoyed a performance of Romeo and Juliet from The Globe Players. This is a key GCSE text for the English Literature qualification and it was fantastic to see the play live and have a chance to explore key themes and ask questions about characters.

Module 4 in English...

Year 7 have been learning about the Origins of Genre and explored texts such as Shelley's Frankenstein, Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, The Hobbit and The Picture of Dorian Gray.  We have been so impressed with the creative writing that our Year 7s are producing.

Year 8 have been learning about Global Conflict and looked a number of texts including Poetry of the First World War, Maya Angelou's work and the work of John Agard.

Year 9 have been studying Malorie Blackman's Boy's Don't Cry. We are hopeful that students will go on to read more of her novels, all of which can be found in our library.

Year 10 have just completed their study of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Next Module, they begin George Orwell's Animal Farm.

Year 11 are preparing for the GCSE English Literature and Language examinations.
