Made in Bluewater Competition

Year 10 GCSE Design Technology & Business students took part in the Bluewater concept competition. Six teams from across Leigh Academies Trust presented their ideas for the generation of a new community space in Bluewater.  The Leigh Academy DT team wowed the judges with their sensory immersive VR concept; Firefly.

All winning team members received a £50 prize and have now gone through to the National finals hosted by LandSec (the Bluewater owners).

We are so proud of how our students performed under this pressure, the hours they put in to their presentations, they way they conducted themselves in a professional setting and their application of the skills and knowledge they have embedded from their DT & Business learning.

Congratulations to the three students who triumphed, Henna, David & Zak  The national finals were on Friday 22nd March where team Firefly had to present virtually to a panel from LandSec corporate offices and once again the Leigh students presented competently, answered questions and conveyed their excellent idea enthusiastically to the judges.

The final decision of winning designs will be announced mid April.

F1 - Design Competition

In collaboration with the revolutionary INEOS Go Humans Academy, Sir Lewis Hamilton is inviting UK students to get involved with the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula 1. Winning helmet designs will be photographed with Sir Lewis at a 2024 Grand Prix event, and there is exclusive Formula 1 signed merchandise and experiences up for grabs!

The brief focused on diversity and inclusion. This ignited some great conversations and ideas amongst the Leigh students and was reflected in their creative and inspiring design entries. A big well done for all those who have taken part and good luck.
