Y13 IB Students and our new Business teacher.

Y13 BTEC Business, LIBF, IB

We are moving to the end of the courses and our Post-16 students are ready for their assessments. Coursework for BTEC is looming, as is the second sitting for the Marketing exam and Finance exam. Our business students are revising, finding time to practise questions and supporting each other to ensure they all get the grades they deserve.

LIBF Finance students are weeks away from their first sitting of the final Unit exams (one x 1hr Multiple Choice Questions and one x 2hr written response to case study). We are finishing by exploring the sustainability of the financial services industry, identifying business behaviours that ensure UK financial providers have a customer base and environment that is flourishing. Students are learning what actions individuals can take in response to the marketing and salesmanship of the increasingly creative financial services industry.

IB Business Management students are also in revision mode, they are embracing the opportunity to answer past-paper questions, getting involved in active classroom revision sessions and preparing for 3 end of course exams. This group will be finished by 1st May, and their energy for self-directed study alongside preparing for case study and financial formulas responses is boundless.

Y11 GCSE Business

Also in the firing line for some gruelling exams, are the dynamic and enthusiastic Year 11 cohort. We will be sitting two challenging papers and all students have been preparing for this through practice questions, revision activities in class, along with their access to the comprehensive GCSE Reviser website. We are ensuring students have time and space to connect the very many points of the course, and the opportunity to ask questions and double check their ideas. Revision sessions for Business continue every Friday until the last exam; 15:15-16:00 in room SH1.10.

Y10 GCSE Business

We have completed 3 of the 6 Units for the GCSE program and as we head into Easter break, students will be ruminating the importance of production methods and efficiency in business. Unit 3 focuses on Operations Management and this last unit of Year 10 brings together the elements of External Influences (Unit 2), Human Resources (Unit 4) and Business in the Real World (Unit 1). Students are warming up for the end of year Mock Exams - AQA Paper 1 - where they will have their business knowledge tested, as well as their ability to write constructively. Paragraph structure, appropriate key terms and connective terminology all play their part in the GSCE exams dance that our young entrepreneurs are preparing for in a year.

To lift the mood a little, we will be launching the 10X Challenge after Easter and Year 10, as well as some Year 12 students will enjoy the opportunity to micro-finance their business idea to bring a new product or service to market in Dartford. Look out for updates in the next Newsletter!
