Work Experience Form 2023 2024
Year 10 Work Experience Presentation 2023/2024

Work Experience, Careers advice and Visiting Speakers

At The Leigh Academy, we hold the importance of experiencing excellence at the centre of our priorities and continually support our young learners in developing a strong and deeply held set of values, two of which are partnerships and community.

This module we celebrated National Careers week. The centrepiece of our week was a series of assemblies delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions. This was expertly led by a representative from the government's biggest department. Each year group had a different experience that was appropriate for their stage of their journey towards considering careers.

By now, around 150  students in Year 10 have secured work experience opportunities due to take place in July and the school team have been working hard behind the scenes to help them as they are preparing for their placements within our community across the South East. This figure will rise further still as the last remaining students are supported to gain their placements.

Over 200 Year 11 students have now had appointments with a Level 6 qualified Independent Careers advisor. Remaining students will take their opportunity in due course.

Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive as students consider their bright futures, be that staying at the Leigh Academy or moving on to new opportunities to further their journey.
