In the last week of half term, the Queen popped up around the site to ‘greet’ the children in the run up to our Jubilee events. We hosted a number of Jubilee college competitions with crown making, coin designing and our Jubilee art competition seeing some fantastic entries throughout the week. On the 27th of May we had Jubilee themed puzzles on the tables in our dining hall for students to engage with at break and lunchtime. These included Guess The Royal Baby, crosswords and general knowledge questions about the Queen.
Mr Smith delivered a Jubilee themed assembly to students before our picnic event, highlighting the achievements of Queen Elizabeth during her reign and our Year 7 choir sang some Jubilee themed songs they had been rehearsing in the Choir Club as students entered and left the hall.
Our fantastic restaurant team decorated our dining hall for their Jubilee themed menus in preparation for our Jubilee Garden Party. After our Jubilee themed assembly, students took part in our Jubilee picnic on the field, with their blankets, teddy bears and accessories. Students had the opportunity to take part in traditional sporting events and lawn games like ‘welly wanging’, egg and spoon races, croquet and boules. We also allowed students to play cricket, badminton, table tennis and tennis in our MUGA throughout the picnic event. Students also lined up to have photos with the Queen!
Students really embraced our picnic event, organising who was bringing what in their friendship groups so that they could have a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
After our Jubilee picnic all our students took part in our digital Jubilee Quiz, 30 challenging questions to test their knowledge on the Royal Family and traditional British customs.
