To celebrate the Queen's Jubilee all key stage 3 staff and pupils had a superbly planned and led day organised by Mrs Grey Vice Principal and Mr Nolan Assistant Principal and leader of key stage 3.
Based on the BBC mission of it existing to ‘ inform, educate and entertain’ this drop down day saw the pupils split into 3 groups to follow a three tier programme of studies across the morning covering the following activities :
Art - Designing and making collages of the Queen’s reign that were displayed for the parents’ Royal Afternoon Tea - led by Mr Whelan (Assistant Principal leader KS4)
Food Technology - designing and making food for that afternoon’s parental/carers Royal Tea - led by Mrs Grey and Mr Nolan
History - learning about the key events that the Queen has led and or encountered in her reign and making a modern day news team broadcast on students’ Chrome Books - led by Mr Slowey
These events then flowed into an afternoon ‘Royal Tea’ delivered by pupils to their parents and families . Whilst the fair was enjoyed, pupils’ art was on display, music was played and their news reports were shown to the assembled throng.
We also invited our guests to visit, with their sons and daughters, our wonderful farm where they saw it transformed into a royal setting under the leadership of highly experienced farm manager Nic Cooper. There, our two wonderful HWA farm hands Maizie Year 7 and Sophie Year 11, shared two of their wonderful sheep bespoke in their regal regalia!
What a memorable day was had by one and all !
