To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, the staff and students at Ebbsfleet Academy discussed the Commonwealth and our own cultures.
Our canteen served a “Commonwealth Menu” to our community throughout the week.
Students decorated triangles of paper to create our own jubilee bunting.
On Thursday the school came together to celebrate a “Culture Day”. Our Year 7 - 10 students enjoyed:
A fun quiz about the Commonwealth
Students decorated “Royal” themed tiles which we used to create a jubilee mosaic.
Students engaged in a class that discussed the history of the Commonwealth
Students competed in our own Commonwealth Games. Students tried Cricket, Sepak Takraw, Australian Football Rules (AFL) and Kinball,
Staff and students were invited to wear their own cultural dress, national sports team kits or red, white & blue.
We held a “Street Party” where the community came together to eat outside & share cultural food.
Staff ran fun stalls for the students, for example:

Hair Braiding
Book Stall
A cake stall ran to raise money for the Ukraine Appeal. Morrisons kindly donated cupcakes to support this stall.
Playplace joined us to provide some unique fun through sports and craft activities.
Our local ice cream van visited us to serve refreshing treats.
Our Year 11 students displayed their “British Fashion” creations in a fashion show featuring teachers.
We have a hat parade & tug of war.
We also buried a time capsule entitled “Life in 2022”. Items included house badges, newspaper headlines, Covid tests & a list of the top 40 songs for the year so far.
We are proud to announce that we raised the grand sum of £220 for the Ukraine Appeal.
