🗒️Message from Nicole Feld, Academic Instructional Coach
Dear Families,
At NCES we strive to provide your child with great instruction, and our families with detailed and helpful information regarding your student’s progress. In addition to the content area grade your child will receive on the report card coming home today, you can use Infinite Campus to get more detailed information about your child’s progress on the standards. Standards-Based Grading communicates the level of mastery your child achieved on a specific standard rather than just an average grade for each subject. This is more descriptive of what your child is specifically learning and of the level of mastery your child is achieving with each skill. Traditional grades (O,S,NI,U in primary or A,B,C,D,U in intermediate) still apply but you may also notice scores of 4-3-2-1 in Infinite Campus. These numbers reflect the mastery level for your child in that area. Below is an explanation of each mastery level:
With Standards-Based Grading, students are given multiple opportunities to demonstrate their level of mastery with each skill and the grades are not averaged. Instead, the grades are determined by their level of mastery at the end of the cycle. Here is an example of what you could see in Infinite Campus that gives you additional information.
In the past, you would have received a paper copy of the SBG scores because Infinite Campus didn’t recognize 4-3-2-1 well. Because IC now allows us to score 4-3-2-1 without attaching that to a percentage, this year the scores you would have seen on the Standards Based Grading Addendum are in Infinite Campus marked as “Overall.”
We love partnering with you in your child's education!

If you need to visit the front office during this time, please park in the lot located on the cafeteria/bus drop-off side of the building The map below shows the area marked in green. In short, during these times, the carpool side will be exit-only.
For everyone's safety, please refrain from dropping your student off at the four-way stop on the carpool sidelines that you see marked in red on the map below. Instead, always use the designated carpool line.
To assist with traffic flow and clarity, parts of the carpool map will be color-coded. Areas marked in red will be no-access zones or have blockades to help traffic flow, while those highlighted in green will indicate suitable parking areas if you need to enter the school building during that 8:15 to 8:40 time frame.
