🗒️ Message from Shawn Wilson, Assistant Principal
NCES Families,
As some of you may know, our school has a positive behavioral interventions and supports team (PBIS) that works to establish and maintain schoolwide behavior expectations. This team reviews our schoolwide behavior systems and identifies ways to ensure consistency across our school. As part of our work, we will soon begin working on the development of schoolwide expectations. This will enable our school to focus on three to five behavioral expectations for all students. Our plan is to draft a set of schoolwide expectations that we will then share with school stakeholders. After receiving feedback and making any necessary revisions, we will work to implement those expectations throughout our school. This task will culminate with teachers integrating the schoolwide expectations into their classroom practices; we will also create a series of posters for display throughout the school building with explanations of how those schoolwide expectations will look in designated spaces, like restrooms, hallways, and the cafeteria. Examples of schoolwide expectations could include respect for others, responsibility for one's actions, maintaining safety, and a variety of others.
Our team will begin this work at the end of this school year. We expect it to take much of next school year to complete the project. We look forward to input from our school stakeholders on the development of schoolwide behavior expectations. Our team intends for this work to ensure consistency throughout our school in behavior expectations that will help make our students successful in their learning.
Respectfully,
Shawn Wilson, Assistant Principal
