Dear NCES Families, 

Cardinal Commons FRC is hosting a speaker event titled "Worry and Anxiety in Children." at Chancey Elementary. (I work at this school as well.) The next speaker on ADHD will be at Norton Commons. Please see the flier for more information. To RSVP click HERE.

We are in need of donations of khaki pants (youth sizes 12-18), white button-down dress shirts (youth sizes M-XXL), and ties. Any new or gently used contributions would be greatly appreciated for our students attending the Men of Quality Conference. 

Other available resources-

• Dental clinic - May 17th. if your student participated in November, you do not need to do anything for your child to participate.  If you are new or have just changed your mind about having your student participate, please register at this link. This exam does meet the requirement for the Kindergarten/new student exam required by JCPS.

• Taxes - If you need help preparing your taxes, follow this link.

• Community Baby Fair - March 23rd for new expectant parents. See fliers for details. Click HERE to RSVP.

📝 Literacy KNight 3/7/24 📚

Literacy KNight is on 3/7! No walk-ins permitted. If you filled out your RSVP, we look forward to seeing you there!

There will be a leave a book, take a book station for BOTH adults and children, so if you have a used book (adult or children's), then bring it that night. You are welcome to take a book home! 

💪YMCA Annual Fundraising Campaign School Success

• We raised $5800 (and the number is still growing) as a school community!!

    • Congratulations to Mrs. Brewer's class for raising the most money!

    • We had 15 classes with 100% participation, so we drew the winner. The lucky winner is Mrs. Lammlein's class!!

🍎 Parent Teacher Association

• KNIGHTS on Parade

  • Come help us prepare for our first-ever Knights on Parade event! We need parent volunteers for the next 3 weeks to help our students create their items for the parade.  The spots are labeled by grade level and class time. Sign up HERE!

  • Volunteer Dates: March 11th through the 28th Location: The Library with Mrs. Davis

  • Day of Parade: Friday, April 19th from 1 to 3 pm.

• Champ’s Skate Night

  • Skate Night event at Champs Rollerdome will be March 12, 2024 from 5:45 pm – 8 pm! (9851 La Grange Rd, Louisville, KY 40223)

• smART Showcase Prep with Ms. Sarah

  • Our dedicated art teacher, Ms. Sarah, is actively engaging our students in creating artwork for our upcoming smART Showcase in May. She is seeking volunteers every Friday until the event to assist in preparing student art pieces for display. Volunteers will report directly to Ms. Sarah. Click HERE to volunteer.

💻 KSA Dates

The Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) will take place the last 14 days of the school year for 3rd-5th graders. The current testing window is May 6 - May 24. 3rd-5th grade families, please avoid scheduling appointments and/or trips during this time period.

• Transportation Change Form 

• School begins at 8:40.

• Students should be settled in their classrooms by 8:35. 

• There is a parent/student lunch area where you will be able to sit with your students to eat lunch. The student may even invite one friend over to eat lunch with you all.

• If you are interested in having your student participate in Blessings in a Backpack, please complete this form.

• If you need clothes for your student from the Clothing Assistance Program (CAP), please complete this form.

• Photo ID is always required when entering the building during the school day.

• Parents may join their child for lunch at the guest table, lunch schedule here. No restaurant food is permitted. Photo ID required.
