Dear Brown School Family,
I wanted to take this opportunity to remind all of our families that our in-person students have three days of asynchronous work/assignments in addition to the two days of in-person learning. We are finding that many of our in-person students are not completing their asynchronous work, and this is negatively impacting their learning and grades. Students may be bringing home assignments in their folders, or they may have assignments on Google Classroom. In most cases, assignments should be completed before the student returns for in-person instruction the following week. Assignments completed on paper should be enclosed in the take-home folder and returned to school. If you have questions about your student's assignments or the expectations, please reach out to your student's teacher(s).
Students taking all of their classes virtually will most likely log on to Google Meet four or five days each week. If you are unsure about your student's schedule, please reach out! Elementary families should contact their teacher. Middle and high school families should contact Assistant Principal Dr. Brian.
Most days we are having students switch from virtual instruction to in-person learning. If you are considering a switch for your student, please reach out to our counselors so that we can make arrangements in advance for your student. For K-5, contact Christy Teague. For 6-12, contact Pam Willison.
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
We have over 400 books missing from the Brown School library! Please check with your student to see if they may have a book(s) from our library in your home. If your student has returned as in-person instruction, please have them give the library book(s) to their teacher. If your student is doing virtual learning, please let us know what books are in your home and we will make arrangements to retrieve the book(s) or when you may be able to drop them off at the school.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact our librarian, Amanda Klakamp, HERE.
We are planning a special recognition ceremony for our Class of 2020 graduates who were not able to participate in a traditional graduation ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions. We would like to invite all our Class of 2020 graduates to participate, wearing their caps and gowns. If your student would like to take part in this special event, please complete THIS FORM, or forward it to your student so that they may complete it. We need to have the form completed by noon on Friday, April 23rd to reserve a spot for your student.

Students attending in-person instruction need to bring their school-issued device fully charged to school every day. Personal devices are not allowed based on an SBDM policy. Also, please let us know if your Virtual Academy student is having device issues as well.
Still, need to request a school-issued device? Please do so by filling out the DEVICE REQUEST FORM.
If you know you have already requested a device, please be patient. We are working very hard to sanitize and prepare devices for students.

WHO WE ARE:
The Louisville Youth Philanthropy Council (LYPC) provides a diverse team of up to 35 high school students (public, private and parochial) from Jefferson County, and those contiguous to it, with a hands-on experience in grant-making and philanthropy during a 16-week program on Saturdays during the school year (August - March).
LYPC strives to educate youth about philanthropy - thus creating an appreciation of our community needs and how they can be met. Whether that leads to a philanthropic career path or not, we are raising awareness for the “third-sector” of our country’s structure and the important role it plays. We also create civic engagement, teaching the students how to get involved in the community while we are developing the next generation of philanthropic leaders.
The LYPC is a free program and open to any high school students with a passion to make a difference and a commitment to learning. I have attached our 'teacher toolkit' and ‘student toolkits’ as well as a flyer that can be shared. The toolkits outline info about the program and applications can be completed online at https://www.lypc.org/apply-to-the-lypc.
