Dear Brown School Family,
I have a very important request. I need every family to CLICK HERE and update the selection that you made this fall regarding whether your student(s) will be returning for in-person or enrolling in our virtual learning academy. Additionally, 9% of our families have not made a selection; it's important to know where you are currently leaning as the number of students can significantly impact our plans. You can always change your mind as our start date nears.
I appreciate your help!
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
Our Black Student Union is planning a plethora of events for Black History Month. Be sure to check this section each week through the end of February! Other upcoming events include our Annual Black History Program & Awards, Racial Equity Book Readings, Book Awards, and Coffee & Conversation Sessions.
Nominate a Brown School student for a Book Award! Click HERE to complete the form.
Coffee & Conversations will return on February 19th!
The Black Student Union will be hosting Coffee and Conversation meetings throughout the month of February, so please feel free to contact any BSU board members for any further information. Our google meet code is: BSU2020. You can email our board members at: Maya Anderson, Aaliyah Cox, Malaysia Green, Ziona King, and Alexis Doe. There will not be a meeting on February 12th.
In honor of Black History Month, 7th graders Kyndal Knifeley, Eden Washburn, and Trinity Washburn are taking over their ELA class to teach a lesson on lesser-known Black leaders. These three students have met with their teacher outside of class to prepare and are excellent examples of the four pillars of The Brown's School's Self-Directed Learning Framework: independence, empathy, initiative, and innovation.
Problem: Your child is using a personal device, and all of a sudden they can't use their JCPS credentials to log-in to their Google Drive or Google Meet. You may have noticed a weird sign in error.
Solution: You can fix this error by adding a new profile on the Chrome browser. CLICK HERE for Handout

Our boys and girls basketball teams are continuing to play well. Our boys picked up a big win last Friday vs Portland Christian. Our girls team has added a few players and we are excited for our upcoming games. A big honor for freshman varsity boys player, Justin Bibb, as he ranks 24thin the state in made 3 point shots per game.
Our bowling team had its first match of the season last Thursday against Ballard. Ballard is a favorite to win the State title and our team kept it close and almost pulled out a victory. Jacob Saltsman led the way with a 256 and a 205. Chipping in was Nathan Shannon (199, 226), Gabe Shir (208) and Gracie Rice (121). Our bowlers are lback in action on Thursday 2/11 against Eastern,
Our swimming team is still working hard at practice and "making some waves" in the pool. We are currently working on our schedule and should be able to update our calendar with some swim meets very soon. Stay tuned!
