Join the PTSA for 2021-2022

Dear Brown School Family,
Last Friday, Brown School staff members were one of the first JCPS staffs to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. I have to admit that I cried tears of joy through just about the entire process. I am so grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing this vaccine into our arms - through finance, research, production, and all aspects of the supply chain.
It was fitting that our shots were administered by student nurses from Galen College. Our Technology Coach, Amy Thornton, shared that after the student nurse administered her vaccine, a mentor whispered in the student nurse's ear, "That went a lot better than the first one!" That statement is something that as educators, we have whispered into the ears of our students, and even our newer teachers, many times. It was a reminder of how much we want to be back with our students and our colleagues.
I am still missing all the dear faces of our students, but my hope is restored that we will be back together very soon! Stay safe and healthy!
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
Our Black Student Union is planning a plethora of events for Black History Month. Be sure to check this section each week through the end of February! Other upcoming events include our Annual Black History Program & Awards, Racial Equity Book Readings, Book Awards, and Coffee & Conversation Sessions.
On February 5th at 10:00, the Black Student Union will be hosting a Coffee and Conversation meeting with Ashanti Scott as our guest speaker. Ashanti is a student at the University of Louisville who has a passion for improving the Louisville community and working to create an equitable, accountable, and just society. She has been a vocal activist in the Black Lives Matter movement and other important social justice movements. We are excited to host her and hope that everyone can come support this event. We are looking forward to having you!
The Black Student Union will be hosting Coffee and Conversation meetings throughout the month of February, so please feel free to contact any BSU board members for any further information. Our google meet code is: BSU2020. You can email our board members at: Maya Anderson, Aaliyah Cox, Malaysia Green, Ziona King, and Alexis Doe.
Problem: Noise! There is no way around it, when multiple family members are working from home, or if your child is attending online classes while at a childcare center it gets loud quickly. How can we create a productive workspace for kids?
Solution: Use headphones with a microphone! Don't worry about finding a wireless set, in fact, the plug-in headphones might be easier for the kids to use. Check out the ones linked below from Amazon.
If you are having technical difficulties, please visit the Tech@Brown website it offers various ways to get help, and is linked off of our homepage under both PARENT and STUDENT.
