Dear Brown School Family,
Our Special Returning to School Edition of the Bear Essentials has been updated with information about our middle and high schools! Please be sure to check it out. Additionally, we will be working with our middle and high school students this Friday during their advisory class to put their new schedule on a template so that they understand where they need to be and when! Middle and high school student schedules will be changing dramatically on April 5th, so it is crucial that your student attend this Friday's advisory class to ensure a smooth transition. This impacts both virtual and in-person students. Remember, if you selected the Virtual Learning Academy for your student, this is different than NTI. Students are expected to log in at scheduled times each day.
Our elementary and related arts teachers, along with our classified staff, have set the bar high for an exceptional reopening. I am confident that our middle and high school teachers and staff will also rise to the occasion! The flexibility and innovation of this team continues to surprise me! I am truly blessed to work with these professionals.
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
Juniors and seniors who plan on driving their own cars to in-person school will need to park in the YMCA Parking Garage! Please complete THIS FORM prior to April 5th. Also, check out the video to see the Healthy at School entry procedures so our student drivers will know what to expect in the mornings!
The JCPS Board of Education approved in-person graduations for seniors at their meeting last night. We will also be recognizing the class of 2020 at a separate ceremony. Each student will be provided 10 tickets to the ceremony to share with their family and friends. Here are the details.
Class of 2021
Date: Friday, May 28th
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Central High School Football Field
Class of 2020
Date: Friday, May 28th
Time: 4:00 PM
Location: Central High School Football Field
In the event of inclement weather, both ceremonies will move to June 1st.
We have asked our Assistant Superintendent and the JCPS Chief of Schools about plans for promotion ceremonies for kindergarten, 5th grade, and 8th grade. As of now, there is no guidance from the district regarding what schools are permitted to schedule, so unfortunately we do not have any information to share at this time. I realize the priority was getting our seniors taken care of first, then working toward recognizing our students in the lower grades. Please know that we will share any information with you when we understand how we are allowed to celebrate these important milestones with our families and students.

Students attending in-person instruction need to bring their school-issued device fully charged to school every day. Personal devices are not allowed based on an SBDM policy. Also, please let us know if your Virtual Academy student is having device issues as well.
Still, need to request a school-issued device? Please do so by filling out the DEVICE REQUEST FORM.
If you know you have already requested a device, please be patient. We are working very hard to sanitize and prepare devices for students.
If your student is attending in person, we will deliver the device to their classroom.
