Dear Brown School Family,
We have received approval on our plans for returning to in-person school, so I am sharing them with you following this message. (Just click the embedded Google Sheet to view it.) Please take some time to read them and consider whether you feel comfortable sending your student to in-person school when the time arises, or if you would like to continue with virtual learning. If you have already made your selection and you would like to change your mind, you may do so HERE. If you have not made a selection, a staff member will be calling you this week to assist with this process. As we get closer to moving back to in-person school, I will hold several virtual sessions for parents to be able to hear about our plans, find out who will be teaching their students, and to ask questions.
The JCPS Board of Education reviewed their plan last night. You can find it HERE.
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
Star Students are recognized for the past two weeks!
PROBLEM: As a parent, how can I check my child's grades?
SOLUTION: The JCPS Parent Portal allows parents to track your child’s academic progress, and is a secure and convenient way to monitor your child’s attendance, assignments, daily grades, and class schedule as well as health information. Parents or guardians can view multiple children with one login, and should not share their password with anyone, including their child. Brown School students can view their progress by using their own password on the Student Portal page. Click HERE for a more detailed video.
If you are having technical difficulties, please visit the Tech@Brown website which is linked off of our homepage under PARENT and STUDENT. It offers various ways to get help.

Miss Christy's TIP of the Week: The Coronavirus Family Impact Project shares that approximately 23% of children were rated by their parents as experiencing psychosocial impairment during March to June 2020. Pandemic Parenting is a collaboration between two psychologists, scholars, and moms committed to sharing their expertise and research in ways that are immediately accessible and useful to families. As psychologists, professors, and researchers, we spend much of our time studying how negative experiences impact children and the many ways children communicate their needs and emotions. And as moms, we are struggling right along with all of you to figure out how to adequately meet our children’s needs in the midst of a global pandemic. We cope by doing what we know how to do best — conducting research. We each spent the spring and summer of 2020 gathering data on how COVID-19 is impacting hundreds of families in the U.S. and Canada. As we enter another potential wave of remote learning, quarantine, and continued uncertainty, we felt it important that we share the preliminary findings from our research to help families now. We created Pandemic Parenting to provide a platform where we and other experts can share science-based knowledge, experience, and resources. Our goal is to build a supportive, informed community for all who care for or work with children and seek information about how to make the tough decisions ahead while coping with pandemic-related stress.
On a lighter note....Classics for the Pandemic from Gerry Brooks.
