Join the PTSA for 2021-2022
January 6, 2021
Dear Brown School Family,
Happy New Year! I know you are thrilled to welcome 2021 and the possibilities that it brings.
With a return to in-person school being planned for some point this spring, be sure to scroll down to see which elementary teachers will be teaching which classes at the time that happens. Please keep in mind that these assignments are subject to modification based on any changes that families make to their initial return-to-school format (in-person vs. virtual learning academy).
Our student journalism team has been hard at work! Please read the latest edition of our student newspaper, The Bear Necessities.
Warm regards,
Dr. Angela, Principal
We are thrilled to be welcoming your elementary student back to in-person school and our virtual learning academy in the very near future. Students will be taking all core content classes from their assigned teacher below. Students will not change teachers or classrooms during the day except for related arts instruction. Related arts teachers will provide instruction in the students' regular classroom as well, except for P.E., which will take place outside.
Teachers and administrators will collaborate to determine student assignments in classrooms. We are unable to consider parent requests due to SBDM policy.

Need tech help on the weekend? This community-based support even offers Saturday hours and is staffed with volunteers.
This year our high school journalism class is publishing a completely digital edition of The Bear Necessities. This student-run newspaper has feature articles, editorials, news, and even highlights beautiful student artwork. Also, be sure to read a thoughtful piece on Black Lives Matter protest by Trinty Wooten.
Problem: Teachers are always asking if they can use a fantastic tool called Flip Grid with students. The answer is YES, but parents have to fill out a consent form that is online. Check out this article on ways to use FlipGrid.
Solution: Parents will find the "optional" FlipGrid consent form on the JCPS Parent Place. This is the same website you used to complete required school forms, but is different from Parent Portal, which is for grades.
How to give Consent:
Select the "Complete Forms" icon.
Look for forms that state they are "optional".
If you are having technical difficulties, please visit the Tech@Brown website it offers various ways to get help, and is linked off of our homepage under both PARENT and STUDENT.
